Eldoret, Kenya - Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu is expected to release the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam results today in Eldoret, the fifth largest city in Kenya and the capital of Uasin Gishu County.

Machogu will announce the results at the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) headquarters, also known as Mitihani House, after briefing President William Ruto on the candidates’ performance in the exams.

The 2023 KCSE exams were conducted from October 23 to November 24, 2023, with 903,260 candidates sitting for the exams across the country. The marking exercise was completed on Friday and the results were standardized over the weekend.

Eldoret is often referred to as the “City of Champions” due to its high-altitude training camps for athletes. It is also the home town of Machogu, who was nominated by Ruto as the Education CS in October 2022. Machogu is a former Member of Parliament for Nyaribari Masaba Constituency and a veteran politician with a wealth of experience in national leadership.

Candidates can check their results by sending their index number followed by the word ‘KCSE’ to the KNEC SMS code 20076. They can also access their results online through the KNEC portal 1 by entering their index number and selecting the year of the exam.

The results will determine the placement of candidates in various tertiary institutions, including universities, colleges, and technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions.

The Ministry of Education has assured the public that the results are credible and reflect the true performance of the candidates. It has also warned against any attempts to falsify or alter the results, saying that such acts will be met with legal action.

The 2023 KCSE exams were the second to be conducted under the new competency-based curriculum (CBC), which was introduced in 2018 to replace the 8-4-4 system. The CBC aims to equip learners with skills and competencies that are relevant to the 21st century.

The Ministry of Education has congratulated all the candidates, teachers, parents, and exam officials for their hard work and dedication during the exam period. It has also urged the candidates to accept their results with grace and optimism, and to pursue their dreams and aspirations in life.
