A bus carrying 20 passengers from Mombasa to Nairobi caught fire on Monday morning at Kanga area within Tsavo National Park, in Makueni County. No one was injured in the incident, but the bus and its luggage were completely destroyed.

According to Eastern Region police commander Joseph Napeiyan, the bus was reported to Mtito Andei police station at around 1:00 am as a vehicle fire incident involving a PSV passengers bus[^1^][1]. He said that the bus was moving from Mombasa direction headed to Nairobi when it caught fire from the rear wheel tyre[^2^][2].

He said that all the passengers and their belongings were safely evacuated from the burning bus, and that they were transferred to another bus by the same service company. He also said that they had launched investigations into the cause of the fire, which he suspected to be faulty wiring[^3^][3].

The incident has raised concerns over the safety of road users, especially those travelling on long distances. It has also prompted calls for better maintenance and inspection of public transport vehicles, as well as stricter enforcement of traffic rules and regulations.
