Joe Budden recently expressed his disappointment with Rick Ross and Meek Mill's collaborative album, Too Good to Be True. On his podcast, Budden labeled the album as a mere "money grab" and stated that it fell short of his high expectations for a full-length collaboration from the MMG duo. Despite his criticism, Budden did offer some positive remarks about certain aspects of the album.

During his podcast, Joe Budden expressed his thoughts on Rick Ross and Meek Mill's collaborative album, remarking that it felt a bit scattered. He acknowledged that when the volume is turned up, the album does have an enjoyable vibe. However, Budden specifically highlighted his love for the Wale record, along with a few other tracks on the album. He mentioned that he particularly appreciates the tracks that are around three minutes and forty seconds long, as they allow the content and messages to shine more prominently. These songs, in his opinion, capture his attention and make a stronger impact.

Expanding on his critique further, Joe Budden emphasized his disappointment with the content of the album, asserting that Rick Ross and Meek Mill did not deliver substantial or meaningful lyrics throughout the entire project. According to Budden, the album lacked any impactful messages or significant substance. He reiterated his belief that the collaboration was primarily motivated by financial gain, which he acknowledged is not necessarily a problem. However, as a fan of both artists, Budden set his expectations exceedingly high, viewing their collaboration as an opportunity for a classic project. Although he found the album to be acceptable, it fell short of the elevated standard he holds for Ross and Meek's collective work.

Although Joe Budden may have been disappointed with Rick Ross' recent album, it's important to note that he has been a vocal supporter of the MMG mogul in the past. In fact, Budden has gone as far as suggesting that Rick Ross should participate in a Verzuz battle against T.I., another heavyweight in the Southern rap scene. During one of his podcast episodes last year, Budden expressed his belief that Ross has an extensive catalog of over 40 records that would make for a formidable battle. He highlighted the significance of Ross' hits such as "John" and how they would have a different impact when played against T.I. compared to someone like 2 Chainz. This suggests that despite his critique of the recent album, Budden recognizes Rick Ross' prowess and sees potential in him for a memorable Verzuz matchup.

Furthermore, Budden elaborated on his thoughts regarding a potential Verzuz battle between Rick Ross and T.I. He expressed his belief that Ross would bring a different energy compared to T.I., noting that the former would be more focused and less inclined towards indulgences like strippers or prolonged speeches. Budden also mentioned that there are a few previous winners who could benefit from returning for another battle. It is worth mentioning that Rick Ross had already participated in a Verzuz battle against 2 Chainz in August 2020, where he was declared the victor. Meanwhile, T.I., who had challenged 50 Cent, has yet to make an appearance on the rap battle series. Budden's comments indicate his eagerness to see Ross and T.I. face off and showcase their respective talents and catalog of hits.
