The Cabinet Secretaries of Kenya have held an emergency meeting today to discuss the issue of flooding that has affected many parts of the country. The flooding has been caused by heavy rainfall (El Nino) that has persisted for long hours, resulting in displacement, damage, and disease.

The Cabinet has come up with several solutions that will help to curb the problem. With the assistance of the government emergency response team, it has been made easier for the government to identify specific places that are experiencing disturbances caused by the floods in order to pump enough resources to reduce the impact.

The government has officially announced that over Ksh10 billion will be channeled to various counties that are experiencing catastrophic effects of floods. A total number of 500,000 homes are expected to benefit from this specific amount.

On the other hand, health has also been given a priority. The government has also disclosed that the Ministry of Health will supply over 150,000 mosquito nets that will assist in reducing malaria, which is a common disease in flooded areas.

More information will be disclosed as the committee will be proceeding with their work.
